There’s Been a Lot of Noise . . .
. . . on both sides of the recent Supreme Court gun-control decision.
If we’re going to cut back on things that kill people, we’re going to have to ban motor vehicles
— cars, pickups, trucks, semis, anything that uses our streets and highways —
because just over 110 people die in roadway mishaps every day
compared to 100 killed by accidental or on-purpose gunshot wounds.
Still Trying to Figure Out . . .
. . . who has more good times.
Folks who go to bed tired
or those who wake up tired.
Just Asking . . .
. . . but in all this abortion kerfuffle,
has anybody considered birth control?
Science Has Done its Job . . .
. . . by adding years to our life.
It’s up to us
to add life to our years.
You Don’t Want to . . .
. . . wind up an old maid
in an old farts’ facility
if you don’t know
how to turn her off.
Hard Work is Still . . .
. . . a sound route to success,
but it’s still second
to a good knowledge of the tax laws.

Whatever His Faults, Biden
Is Still Preferable to Trump
Regarding William David Stone’s letter to the editor (“In Life There Are Trade-Offs,” June 14). President Biden doesn’t control gas prices, though he is considering a federal gas-tax holiday. He doesn’t control the crime rate. Nor does he control Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping or baby-formula manufacturers.
Republicans never miss and opportunity to denigrate Mr. Biden. But at least this president can speak in clear, coherent sentences, isn’t flaunting loose morals and isn’t in a position to be blamed for inciting a rebellion against our government.
Give me a president worthy of respect for trying to unite our fractured country instead of urging people to storm the capitol, where they wanted to hang Vice President Mike Pence.
