Great idea Cecil – count me in.

Just some suggestions for your newsletter
Coming Soon column – let us know what is going to be happening. I just heard we are
expanding water aerobics to 3 times per week. If we can put out what will be coming that will show up on the next month’s calendar. I don’t get downstairs a lot to watch the tv so it would get out to a lot more residents.
On-going activities – have someone from the activity tell what is happening in their activity – maybe explain what that activity is so we can decide if it is something we are interested in. Currently you only see the name of the activity on the calendar and really don’t know what it is – might help with getting more people deciding to join in. Maybe highlight one activity at a time.
I have always said we lack communication. If an activity has changed or cancelled it helps to know ahead of time. Also, things happening in the building like elevator not working, power or tv outage, repairs like carpet replacement. Maybe you can get Mary to update you or add information to your online news.
Thank you for all you are doing for our community – you add a lot to our lives. These are just suggestions.

Good suggestions, all we need is for the folks behind those activities to drop a line. And when someone sees the elevator isn’t working, let us know.

. . .inmate today who’s moving out (maybe here)

because everyone there received notice

their rent is increased 15 percent immediately.

If they’re paying $3,000 a month,

that’s a $450 monthly increase, or $5,400 a year.

. . . in Detroit and Windsor as the cities celebrate Canada Day (July 1) and Independence Day (July 4) with the International Freedom Festival.

Capper is gigantic Ford Motor Co.-sponsored fireworks display from barges in the Detroit River that draws more than a million spectators to the riverfront in both countries.

. . . moved first boxes into new quarters and unpacked them into proper cupboards and shelves, had good chat with DJ about moving-in logistics and and got back to Sunrise by 9:15. Then packed a couple more and got downstairs with bottle of Prosecco to celebrate Al Paolino’s 87th birthday.

Had My First Visitor . . .

. . . after I got my key to #1404 at Verena of Gilbert along with mailbox key, parking-lot-gate opener and coded all-door opener shortly before noon and paid first-month’s rent before heading to my apartment to check some measurements for putting in furniture.

Doorbell rang and Mary Weaver and Dale, Sunrise driver who quit after nose-to-nose with Alberto, were laughing out there and came in for a visit and checked out my quarters. Mary agreed that we should put out a newsletter and liked my suggestion of “Verena Viewpoint” as the name.

. . . on both sides of the recent Supreme Court gun-control decision.

If we’re going to cut back on things that kill people, we’re going to have to ban motor vehicles

— cars, pickups, trucks, semis, anything that uses our streets and highways —

because just over 110 people die in roadway mishaps every day

compared to 100 killed by accidental or on-purpose gunshot wounds.
